History of Fake Food

Our Team of Experts

We have a qualified and experienced staff with more than 25 years of experience to meet the demands of an audience that seeks the highest quality and realism in replicas of artificial fake food. We manufacture to order. We manufacture to order in Spain, Japan and Switzerland

All of our raw materials are of a high quality. To give maximum realism to the samples, each element of the plate is carefully studied. To be able to achieve the highest level of hyperrealism in the sample, we choose the most appropriate material. In customized orders, sometimes we need to try and test several materials until we obtain the most appropriate one. The materials we normally use goes from platinum silicone, to polyurethane foam, resin or clay.

All our samples are made by hand by our experts and meticulous artisans who study thicknesses, textures, contrasts and colors with sophisticated R&D techniques to turn the sample into a true work of Art.
Fake food has its origins in Japan. The first data we have about the sampuru (in Katakana: サ ン プ ル), which comes from the English word “sample” is from 1917 when a Tokyo restaurant presented glass reproductions with the arrival of the first foreigners to the island who did not understand any menu plate. These fictitious artificial food samples spoke for themselves; and this had an incredibly positive effect on restaurants.
Over the years, the glass reproductions were phased out. Today these reproductions are made in liquid plastic, platinum silicone, resin, polyurethane foam, or clay depending on the texture, size and color that must be given to the fictitious food. In Japan, nowadays the use of fictitious food samples is used in 95% of food establishments to show their dishes not only to foreign customers but also to local customers as it has become an experience striking, pleasant, funny, fast, easily understandable, and appetizing.
